Integrated efforts imperative for cyber awareness

  RAJSHAHI, Nov 10, 2023 (BSS) - Integrated efforts of all government, non-government, volunteer and other stakeholders can be the crucial means of cyber awareness and digital security.

     Utmost emphasis should be given on generating awareness among the public in general, particularly the adolescents, for protecting them from cyber crimes.

     Government officials and experts came up with the observations while addressing a seminar related to cyber awareness at the office conference hall of Divisional Commissioner here today.

     Digital Security Agency (DSA) belonging to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division organized the seminar supported by the Commissioner Officer discussing and devising ways and means on how to ensure digital security.

     Divisional Commissioner Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir addressed the opening ceremony as chief guest, while Additional Commissioner Jasim Uddin Haider and Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed spoke as special guests with Additional Commissioner Dr Moksed Ali in the chair.'

     DSA Director General Abu Sayeed Kamruzzaman talked about institutional protection, digital device use, online and internet use, social media use, protection from cyber bullying and use of password elaborately during his keynote presentation.

     He also gave an overview of the digital security law along with its aspects putting emphasis on concerted efforts of all government and non-government organizations to fight against cyber crimes to protect the young generation.

     In his remarks, Dr Humayun Kabir said awareness should be raised among people about the cyber security law and punishment.

     He said relevant professionals, experts, and the mass media could play a responsible role in this regard.

     Divisional Director of Department of Family Planning Enamul Haque, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Omar Faruque, Superintendent of Police Shahjahan Mian, Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat and Deputy Director of Department of Secondary and Higher Education Dr Sharmin Ferdous Chowdhury also addressed the meeting.
