CHATTOGRAM, Nov 25, 2023 (BSS) - At least three persons were killed and another was injured as a container laden lorry ran them over in Talbaria Bisik road area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway of Mirsharai upazila this morning.

The deceased were identified as Alamgir Hossain, 45, son of Abul Kamal, hailed from Sujanagar, Pabna, Shafiqul Islam, 42, son of Malek Bepari and Masud Mia, 35, son of Humayun Kabir, both hailed from Ashuganj thana under Brahmanbria district.

Both of them were working as labourers of Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited (KGDCL).

The injured person Majed Mia, 45, is undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Sohel Sarkar, Inspector of Jorarganj Highway Police Outpost said the speeding lorry hit a truck after losing control and rammed into the labourers of KGDCL who were on renovation work of gas line.

The accident left two persons dead on the spot and two injured, of whom, one died on the way to the hospital.

The ill-fated lorry was seized, but its driver has fled, the police official said.
 
The bodies will be handed over to the family after completing the legal process.

A case was filed with Zorargonj Thana.
