KHULNA, Nov 29, 2023 (BSS) - A total of six, including four Awami League (AL)
nominated aspirants today submitted nomination papers for the 12th parliament
election to the Returning Officer Khondokar Yasir Arefin (RO) at the deputy
commissioner's (DC) office.
The candidates who have submitted nomination papers are- incumbent parliament
member of Khulna-2 constituency Sheikh Salah Uddin Zwel, incumbent parliament
member of Khulna-4 constituency Salam Murshedi, central organizing secretary
of AL S M Kamal Hossain for constituency-3 and Rashid Morol for constituency-
6.
Independent candidates Md Zwel Rana and S M Razu submitted nomination papers
for constituency-4 and 6 respectively.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and city unit AL President Talukder
Abdul Khaleque, District Unit President and Zila Parishad Chairman Sheikh
Harun-ur-Rashid, among others, were present.
Khondokar Yasir Arefin, who is also deputy commissioner of Khulna, told BSS
this evening, he received a total of five nomination papers till 4.00pm. He
could not know immediately how many nomination papers have been submitted to
the assistant returning officers, so far.
He, however, said, a total of 50 nomination papers have been collected till
today at all six constituencies in Khulna.
The last date for submission of nomination papers for 12th parliament
election is tomorrow (November 30) and the scrutiny of nomination papers will
be held between December 1 and 4.
The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is December 17, he said.
The candidates can appeal against the Returning Officers' (ROs) decisions
between December 6 and 15.
The ROs will distribute electoral symbols among candidates on December 18 and
the candidates could conduct their electioneering from December 18 to 8am on
January 5, the RO added.
