JAMALPUR, Dec 3, 2023 (BSS)- A police constable was killed and another

injured as a train hit their pick-up van at Sheikherbhita railway crossing on
Jamalpur-Dewanganj tracks in Sadar upazila here this morning.

The deceased was identified as Md Ahsanul Haque, a constable at Jamalpur
Sadar Police Station and also son of Md Nazrul Islam, of Rajnagar village
under Kalmakanda upazila of Netrokona district.

According to Jamalpur Railway Police, the incident occurred when a Dewanganj-
bound local train from Mymensingh hit the police van in the railway level
crossing area around 4:30 am, leaving the constable dead on the spot.

Another police constable Ariful Islam, 40, sustained fetal injuries in the
accident, said Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jamalpur Railway
Police Station.

Later, the critically wounded police constable was referred to Mymensingh
Medical College Hospital, he added.
