JOYPURHAT, Dec 4, 2023 (BSS) - Smuggled drugs and narcotics substances worth about Taka 20 crore were destroyed in a function held at the training ground of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)-20 battalion of the district today.

 BGB sources said the destroyed drugs were seized by members of different border outposts under the BGB-20 battalion of the district from November 16, 2019 to November 27, 2023.

Rangpur Region Commander Brigadier General Khondkar Shafiquzzaman attended the function as the chief guest.

BGB Dinajpur Sector Commander Col. Rashed Asghar, Captain of BGB-20 Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanjilur Rahman Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Salehin Tanveer Gazi and Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) K M A Mamun Khan Chishti also spoke.

 Judicial Magistrate of the district, Narcotics Control Department officials, Police, Rover Scout and BNCC representatives, local public representatives, media workers and other officials of BGB-20 battalion and its members, among others, were present.
 
The destroyed drugs included 1,23,216 bottles of phensidyl, 32.6 liters of loose phensidyl, 9,510 bottles of liquor, 156.5 liters of loose liquor, 385.675 kgs of ganja, 43,649 pieces of yaba tablets, 1,60,089 pieces of various drugs injection, 392 grams of heroin, 2,134 bottles of Ishfaq syrup, 197 bottles of beer, 7,65,867 pieces of various drugs tablets, 4,378 bottles of sex stimulating syrup, and 19,891 bottles of various drugs.
