MEHERPUR, Dec 7, 2023 (BSS) - The government has started paddy and rice procurement programme in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Md Shamim Hasan inaugurated the programme in a function held at district Food Godown this noon.

The government would procure 1009 metric tons of Aman paddy at the rate of Taka 30 per kilogramme and 725 metric tons of boiled rice at Taka 44 per kilograme under the programme, which would continue till February 28 next.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kazi Nazir Hasan and district Food Controller M M Iqbal Hossain were present, among others, in the function.
