Concerted efforts important for ensuring human rights

RAJSHAHI, Dec 10, 2023 (BSS) - Concerted efforts of all government, non-

government and volunteer organisations concerned can be the crucial means of
protecting human rights for ensuring dignified life of the people.

People of all levels should raise their voices for establishing their equal
rights in the society besides forging social resistance against the violators
of human rights.

Government officials, social watchdogs and development activists came up with
the observation while addressing a post-rally discussion titled " "Dignity,
Freedom, and Justice for all" here today.

District administration organised the meeting at the office conference hall
of Deputy Commissioner (DC) discussing and devising ways and means on how to
protect human rights collectively.

With DC Shamim Ahmed in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others,
by Additional DC Kolyan Chowdhury, Executive Magistrate Sania Binte Afzal,
local unit Chairman of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Morjina Parveen, President of
Diner Alo Hijra Sangha Mohona and Brac District Coordinator Mohsin Hossain.

Members of the civil society, social watchdogs and pressure group members
joined the meeting and took part in its open discussion putting forward a set
of recommendations on how to protect human rights.

Shamim Ahmed said establishing transparency and accountability in every
sphere of life can be the best ways of ensuring human rights to all as the
present government under the dynamic and prudent leadership of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina is very much sincere in this regard.

He said the human rights situation should be improved collectively and the
social watchdogs can play a vital role in this regard.

The meeting was told that ensuring social justice and sustainable development
of living and livelihood conditions of ethnically minority communities is
needed.

The ethnic minority communities should be given the rights of land, food,
healthcare, education and cultural opportunities. So, all the government and
non-government entities concerned should come forward and work together to
this end.
