RAJSHAHI, Dec 14, 2023 (BSS)-The Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an anti-crime drive arrested two alleged top-listed drug peddlers with 10 kilograms of heroin in Chapainawabganj district this morning.
 
The arrested persons are: Shariful Islam alias Dhulu Mian, 50, son of late Nasim Uddin and his son Mominul Islam of Jaira Moral village under Sadar Upazila in Chapai Nawabganj district.

On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden search in a bamboo orchard adjacent to the residence of the arrested persons and recovered the huge contraband item. Subsequently, they arrested the persons from the locality.

Addressing a press briefing at his office this afternoon Lt Col Riaz Shahrier, Commanding Officer of RAB-5, told the journalists that this is the ever-biggest heroin recovery in the last two years.

Responding to a question, the RAB officer said they will conduct a thorough investigation to bring the kingpins behind the largest heroin consignment if there is to book.
So far, they have recovered 83 kilograms of heroin.

A case was recorded with Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station in this connection and the arrested persons along with the seized contraband items were handed over to the police.
