FENI, Dec 16, 2023 (BSS) - The great Victory Day-2023 was celebrated here today with a renewed vow for building a happy, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh with the spirit of the War of Liberation.

District administration, freedom fighters, political parties, educational institutes and various social as well as cultural organisations chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.

The day's programme began with the hoisting of the national flag at all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings at sunrise on Saturday with 31-gun salutes heralded at the Bir Muktijoddha memorial monument at Jail Road in the city.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mushammat Shahina Akhtar, Superintendent of Police Zakir Hasan and senior officials of the district administration, police administration paid wreaths to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On this occasion, District Awami League General Secretary Nizam Uddin Hazari, MP, on behalf of Feni District Awami League, all affiliated organizations of AL, including Municipal Awami League, Sadar Upazila Awami League, District Jubo League, Chhatra League, Mohila Awami League, and Jubo Mohila League, paid wreaths to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

District Awami League President Advocate Hafez Ahmed, Sadar Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Upazila Chairman Shusen Chandra Sheel, Municipal Awami League General Secretary and Municipal Mayor Md. Nazrul Islam Swapan Miyaji among others, were present.

A discussion was held at the initiative of the district Awami League on the occasion of Victory Day this morning.

The district administration organized a parade and beautiful exhibition on the occasion of Victory Day at Bhasha Shaheed Abdus Salam Stadium in the district town.

Deputy Commissioner called upon everyone to work together for the prosperity and development of the country.

The guests distributed the prizes among the winners in the parade and exhibition organized with the participation of various schools, colleges and madrasas.

On the occasion of Victory Day, public and private institutions, autonomous institutions, important buildings, main roads have been illuminated and decorated with national flags in Feni.

Freedom Fighters were honoured by the district administration.

Special prayers have been arranged in every mosque, temple and church of the district for the prosperity of the country.

Marking the day, improved diets were served to prisons and orphanages centres in the district.

A friendly football matches was held in the afternoon marking the day.

Cultural programmes and discussions were also held at the Shilpakala Academy in the evening.
