KHULNA, Dec 19, 2023 (BSS): Mayor of the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque today stressed the need for objective and positive journalism for building a smart Bangladesh.
“Bangladesh has made remarkable progress during last 15 years under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The journalists should present development stories in their respective media side by side others stories,” the Mayor made the remark while addressing at the annual general meeting-2023 of Khulna Press Club (KPC) as chief guest.
During the last 15 years, the nation has achieved significant developments, transitioning into a digitally advanced state by 2021. Looking ahead to 2041, the aspiration of a Smart Bangladesh takes center stage, driven by the vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This transformation hinges on technology, innovation and inclusive development, aiming to create a multifaceted nation that benefits all, he said.
Terming over 30 Journalists were killed during the BNP-Jamaat regime, the Mayor said, the government of Sheikh Hasina has ensured crime free peaceful society and presented sustainable development in the country especially at south-western region which was neglected during the Jatiya Party and BNP-Jamaat regime.
He urged the journalists to play important role ahead of 12th general election so that country’s ongoing development spree to be continued.
Chaired by KPC President S M Nazrul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (revenue) Mukul Kumar Maitra, President of Swadhinata Sangbadik Forum Mokbul Hossain Mintu, addressed as special guests.
Ex-KPC Presidents Sheikh Abu Hasan and S M Zahid Hossain, President of Khulna Journalists Union (KUJ) Faruk Ahmed, former secretary Saheb Ali and Mallick Sudhangsu, among others, addressed.
KPC general secretary Mamun Reza conducted the meeting.
Later, Prize distribution ceremony and cultural programme was held.
