CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Dec 25, 2023 (BSS)- The election campaign has gained
momentum in all the three constituencies of the district.
Candidates and their supporters are visiting door to door and holding street
meetings. Posters of different candidates have covered all the areas having a
festive look.
The electoral constituencies in the district are-- Chapainawabganj-1
comprising Shibganj upazila, Chapainawabganj-2 comprising Nachole, Gomostapur
and Bholahat upazilas and Chapainawabganj-3 comprising Sadar upazila.
The election-concerned officials are getting prepared for holding a free and
fair election in all the three constituencies of Chapainawabganj.
A total of 16 candidates in which seven in Chapainawabganj-1(Shibganj)
constituency, five in Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachole, Gomostapur, Bholahat)
constituency and four in Chapainawabganj-3 (Sadar) constituency are
contesting in the upcoming 12th parliamentary polls.
In Chapainawabganj-1(Shibganj): Dr. Samil Uddin Ahmad Shimul of Awami League
(AL), Md. Nurul Islam Zentu of Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF), Sayed
Nazrul Islam (Independent), Md. Golam Rabbani (Independent), Nawab Md.
Shamsul Hoda of Bangladesh Islami Front, Md. Abdul Halim of National People's
Party (NPP) and Md. Afjal Hossain of Jatya Party are contesting
the polls.
In Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachole, Gomostapur, Bholahat): Md. Ziaur Rahman of AL,
Md. Golam Mostofa Biswas (Independent), Md. Abdur Rashid of Jatya Party, Md.
Azizur Rahman of BNF and Abdullah Al Mamun of Bangladesh Congress are
contesting the polls.
In Chapainawabganj-3 (Sadar), Md. Abdul Wadud of AL, Md. Abdul Matin of
Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM), Khamruzzaman Khan of BNF and Md. Nahid
Ahammed of National People's Party (NPP) are contesting the polls.
The polls will be held in 512 polling centres-- 158 in Chapainawabganj-1, 182
in Chapainawabganj-2 and 172 in Chapainawabganj-3 constituencies.
According to the Chapainawabganj District Election Office, there are 4,72,282
voters-- 2,41,859 male and 2,30,423 female-- in Chapainawabganj-1
constituency, 4,31,071 voters in which 2,14,356 male and 2,16,715 female in
Chapainawabganj-2 constituency, and 4,49,968 voters in which 2,27,263 male
and 2,22,705 female in Chapainawabganj-3 constituency.
