KHULNA, Dec 27, 2023 (BSS) - Police in separate drives arrested five criminals on charges of stealing cash and gold ornaments and possessing hemp (Ganja) in the city in the past 24 hours.

Additional deputy police commissioner Sarder Rakibul Islam disclosed the matter at a press conference held at Sonadanga Model Police Station (PS) here today.

A police team of Sonadanga police station arrested Rony Sheikh, 22, Rabiul Islam Robi, 22, and Jumman Molla, 22, from Goborchaka area in the city last night.

They also seized stealing cash Taka 24,362 and gold ornaments worth about Taka 1, 70,000 from their possession, he said.

Earlier, on Monday, the arrested criminals stealing cash Taka 50,000 and gold ornaments worth about Taka 4,00,000 from the residence of Sirazul Islam, 35, in Goborchaka main road area by breaking lock of collapsible gate.

Islam filed a case with Sonadanga Model police station in this connection on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Khanjahan Ali Police in a drive arrested drug peddler Salma Begum, 25, and her husband Morshed Mia, 26, from Shiromoni Uttar para area in the city in the early hours of today.

They also seized 15.800 kg hemp (Ganza) from their possession, he said, adding that the law enforcement agencies are trying to recover remain stealing cash and gold ornaments.
