SUNAMGANJ, Jan 2, 2024 (BSS)-  Three fish traders  were killed  and two others  injured  in a road  accident  on the Sunamganj-Sylhet road  when  a pick-up van hit a  road side tree  in Barkapan area under Chatak upazila of district today.

The deceased were identified as Nurul Haque, 45, of Sakitpur village of Derai upazila, Abdul Karim, 57 of Ukargaon village of Shantiganj upazila and Asab Uddin of Jamalganj upazila. The victims were fish traders.

The accident occurred when the fish traders were going to Lamakaji fish market in Sylhet from Jamalganj. On the way the pickup lost control and  hit a road side tree in the area around 6am this morning leaving two fish traders dead on the spot and three others injured, in-charge of Jaikals Highway Police Outpost Abdul Kabir said.

The injured were taken to local hospital, where another fish trader succumbed to his injuries, he said.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot and seized the pickup from the spot, he added.
