TANGAIL, Jan 4, 2024 (BSS) - A freedom fighter and retired army man was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Shubhulla area under Mirzapur upazila of the district today.
 
The deceased was identified as Sultan Uddin, a resident of Shubhulya village of the upazila.
 
Commander of Fatehpur Union Freedom Fighters Command Taj Uddin said freedom fighter Sultan was walking on the Shubhulya service lane of the Dhaka-Tangail highway early in the morning after Fajr prayer. At that time, an unidentified vehicle hit him, leaving him injured.
 
Later, he was taken to Kumudini Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
 
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Gorai Highway Police Station Molla Tutul said the body has been handed over to the family members after legal process.
