LAKSHMIPUR, Jan 16, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two men to

life-term imprisonment for killing a carpenter namely Riaz in Sadar upazila
in 2023.

District and Sessions Judge Md Rahibul Islam handed down the verdict to
Kowser Hossain, 31, and Rakib Hossain, 25. They were the residents of Sadar
upazila.

The court also fined them Taka 20,000 each, in default, they will have to
suffer one-year more in jail.

The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicts strangled Riaz, an
inhabitant of Karoitola village under the upazila, to death in Mandari Bazaar
area over previous enmity at the night of February 14 in 2023.

Following the murder, Riaz's mother filed a case with Chandraganj Thana.
Police pressed the charge-sheet on April 1 in the year.

Testifying witnesses and evidences, the court found them guilty and handed
down the verdict in presence of Kowser and Rakib, said Public Prosecutor (PP)
Jasim Uddin.
