GAZIPUR, Jan 18, 2024 (BSS) - A man was killed after the driver lost control over the steering of a private car and fell into a ditch at Badnibhanga bridge area of the Badnibhanga-Gazipur regional road under Sreepur upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Mafiz Mondal, 65, son of Golam Mawla of Shailat village of Gazipur union of the upazila. His car driver Rubel was also injured.

The deceased's nephew Rafiqul Islam said that Mafiz Mondal bought a new private car from Dhaka three days ago. After the Fajr prayer, he left home with the newly bought private car. After going some distance, the private car lost control and fell into the road side ditch around 6:30am this morning.

Locals broke the window glass of the private car and recovered his dead body from the car.

The injured driver was taken to local hospital, said Mintu Sheikh, in-charge of Mauna Police outpost.
