RAJSHAHI, Jan 29, 2024 (BSS)-More than 450 poor and destitute people were given blankets to protect them from the cold during the current winter season in Rajshahi city.
 
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and Awami League (AL) presidium member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton today distributed the blankets at Sujauddowla Degree College premises here.
 
RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr ABM Sharif Uddin, Secretary Mobarak Hossain, Panel Mayor Abdul Momin and Ward Councilors Shahadat Ali, Towhidul Haque, Shahidul Islam and Abbas Ali were present at the distribution programme.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said they have already distributed blankets among around 14,000 cold-stricken people in the city.

He also said the government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been extending need-based support to the poor and marginalized people to mitigate their existing plights of the cold stricken people.
 
He also urged the richer sections of the society and other non-government volunteer and philanthropic organizations to stand beside the cold-hit people in the region with helping hands.
