NARAYANGANJ, Jan 30, 2024 (BSS) - Two badly burned women died at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute here caused by blast from gas leakage at a house in Baghpara area under Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj district on January 24 night.

A total of six people sustained burn injuries in the blast.
 
The injured were Sukhi Akhtar, 30, her daughter Sadia Akhtar, 11, sister Jannati Akhtar, 16, brother Arif Hawlader, 21, cousin Rahima Akhtar, 35, and Rahima's daughter Ritu, 14.

Resident Physician Dr Tarikul Islam today said that Rahima and Jannati succumbed to their injuries at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute on Monday and in early hours of today respectively.

In the incident, Rahima sustained 45 percent burn injuries and Jannati 15 percent, he added.

They were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the institute after the incident," he said.
