KHULNA, Jan 31, 2024 (BSS) - The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2024 will begin on Divisional Public Library premises at Boyra area in the city tomorrow.

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest tomorrow afternoon.

The decision was taken in a preparatory meeting on Tuesday at the deputy commissioner office with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mukul Kumar Maitra in the chair.

Talking to BSS today, Deputy Director of the Divisional Public Library Mohammad Hamidur Rahman said over 100 stalls will be installed in the fair.

He urged the book lovers to come here with a view to be enlightened with knowledge and a decision was also taken to create a facebook page for promotional activities of the Khulna book fair-2024.

The fair will remain open for all from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm every day except holiday. It will also open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on holiday.

Painting competition, poem recitation for children and cultural programmes will be held on separate themes during the fair every evening, Rahman said, adding that smoking in the book fair has been prohibited.
