RAJSHAHI, Feb 3, 2024 (BSS)-The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has opened one more newly constructed Secondary Transfer Stations (STS) today for modern waste management, taking the number to 16 in the city.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated the 100-foot long and 30-foot wide STS at Sepoy para area as chief guest, saying the station was constructed at a cost of Taka around 55 lakh.
Panel mayors Nizam Ul Azim and Abdul Momin, Ward Councilors Muhammad Kamruzzaman, Towhidul Haque and Shahidul Islam and Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Muhammad Mamun were present.
Mayor Liton said they have a plan to construct 30 STSs in the city in phases to remove and manage household wastes and garbage in a modern and hygienic way.
In the first phase, sites for the construction of 20 STS have been selected and construction works of three of those are going to start within the shortest possible time.
Earlier, the corporation has already constructed 15 stations for modern waste management.
Liton asked all the officials and staff of the corporation concerned to render their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to make the effort of making the city neat and clean.
"We are committed to build the city green, clean and eco-friendly within the shortest possible time as per the demand of the city residents," he said.
He added that the officials and employees who will be adjudged as good workers will be honoured and awarded incentives to inspire others.
Liton also called upon all the staff to motivate the people against dumping household wastes besides the roads and other public places.
