MUNSHIGANJ, Feb 14, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two people to death for killing an auto rickshaw driver in Tongibari upazila of the district in 2020.
 
Judge of the district Additional and Session Court -2 Khaleda Yasmin Urmi handed down the verdict to Elias Hossain, a resident of Sonarang village of the upazila and Rokibul Islam, a resident of Poisha village in Lauhajang upazila of the district.
 
According to the prosecution, on May 24, 2020 auto rickshaw driver Shahabuddin was disappeared after leaving his house with the auto rickshaw. His father Abul Sheikh filed a general diary on the next day with Tongibari Police Station.
 
On May 27, Shahabuddin's body was recovered from Kurmira village area of upazila.
 
Later, police arrested four people following the murder and pressed a charge sheet accusing them.
 
Testifying witnesses and evidence, the court gave the punishment, said Public Prosecutor Sirajul Islam Paltu.
