JOYPURHAT, Feb 14, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing a neighbour in Sadar upazila of the district in 2008.

Judge Md Abbas Uddin of Additional District and Session Judge Court-2 pronounced the verdict this afternoon.

The convict sentenced to life term is Sumon Hossain, son of Nurunnabi of Polikadoya village under Sadar upazila of the district.

The court also fined him Taka 10,000.

According to the details of the case, the accused Sumon Hossain was living with his wife at his father-in-law's house in Polikadoya village. He had bad relationship with Amir Hossain of that village.

On August 27, 2008 Amir Hossain went to Sumon Hossain's father-in-law's house to settle the matter. As soon as Sumon Hossain saw Amir Hossain, Sumon started hitting Amir Hossain's head and Amir Hossain died on the spot.

Josna Begum, the wife of Amir Hossain, filed a murder case at the Joypurhat Sadar Police Station as the plaintiff.

The investigation officer of the case filed the charge-sheet in the court on September 26, 2008.

After examining the record and witnesses, the court found him guilty.

Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Advocate Uday Chandra Singh confirmed the matter.
