RAJSHAHI, Feb 25, 2024 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in an anti-crime operation, arrested two alleged drug peddlers with 50 kilograms of ganja in the district last night.
The arrested were identified as Shamim Akhter, 35, son of Lokman Ali of Sultanganj village and Hamidul Islam, 22, son of Faruque Hossain of Madhabpur village both under Godagari Upazila in the district, RAB sources said this afternoon.
On a tip-off, a team of the RAB conducted a raid in a pick-up vank at Nowdapara area under Shah Makhdum Police Station in the metropolis around 11.30 pm and arrested them with the hemp red-handed, RAB sources said.
Another team of the elite force arrested an alleged drug-peddler identified as Muhammad Nahid with 502 bottles of phensidyl from Alaipur village under Bagha Upazila in the district last night.
The arrestees, with the seized contraband goods, were handed over to the police.
Two separate cases were filed with the respective Police Stations in these connections.
