CHATTOGRAM, Feb 26, 2024 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)

arrested a fugitive convict, who had been sentenced to life-term imprisonment
in an attempt to murder case filed with Kotwali Police Station of Chattogram,
after 27 years.

The convict was identified as Ajoy Raxit, 48, son Shanti Raxit, hailed from
Noahpara of Raozan upazila in the district.

Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-7 Md Nurul Absar said, acting on a
tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in CEPZ area on Sunday
night and arrested Ajoy.

Later, he was handed over to respective police station for further legal
action.

The accused, Ajoy Raxit, hacked his neighbour in 1998, Nurul Absar said.
 
After the incident, victim's father filed a case with Chief Judicial
Magistrate against him as a main accused.

A Chattogram court awarded life-term imprisonment to Ajoy and fined him Taka
20,000.
