NETRAKONA, March 7, 2024 (BSS)- Historic March 7 was observed here today commemorating the land mark speech of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and taking a fresh pledge to to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

Marking the historic day, Netrakona district administration and different socio-cultural organizations , political parties including ruling Awami League (AL), professional groups and educational institutions took various programmes. 

The day's programmes formally started with placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Chetonar Batigar on Netrakona collectorate office premises by deputy commissioner of Netrakona Shahed Parvez. 

As part of the day's programme, a discussion meeting on "historic March 7" was held at local public hall here under the auspices of Netrakona district administration. 

Chaired by deputy commissioner Netrakona Shahed Parvez, the meeting was addressed, among others, by chairman of Netrakona zila parishad Asit Kumar Sarker Sazal, police super Netrakona Foyaz Ahmed, mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, president of district AL Advocate Amirul Islam and general secretary of the district AL Advocate Shamsur Rahman Liton.

The meeting was followed by a musical soiree based on patriotic songs. 

A documentary film show on "The political life of Bangabandhu" was screened at Netrakona central Shaheed Minar premises by Netrakona district information office. 

Netrakona Shisu academy organized competitions for the school children on delivering of historic land mark speech of Bangabandhu, poetry recitation and art on the Shishu academy premises.
