RAJSHAHI, March 10, 2024 (BSS) - Secretary to the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury has said the jail wardens should show sensible, humanitarian and disciplined attitude to the prisoners side by side with ensuring overall security of the jail.
He said the country's jails are now being transformed into correction centers as the government has been implementing various projects for enhancement of the efficiency of the jail authorities.
Different other programmes were adopted to help the prisoners to be rehabilitated after ending their jail life. The government has been constructing nine more jails in the country to improve the jail management.
The secretary made the observation while addressing the course concluding and passing-out parade of the 13th batch Deputy Jailor and 61st jail wardens at the newly constructed Jail training centre in Rajshahi today as chief guest.
Inspector General of Prison Brig Gen ASM Anisul Haque, Commandant General Kamal Hossain, Chief Trainer Obaidur Rahman and Course Coordinator Nizam Uddin were present.
Eleven Deputy Jailors, 341 jail wardens and 29 women jail wardens took part in the training and its passing-out parade.
Secretary Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury called upon the wardens to devote themselves to ensure peace in the jail together with maintaining security of the prisoners.
He said jail wardens play an important role in maintaining law and order in the society through keeping the convicted and accused persons safe and secured in jail.
Abdullah Masud Chowdhury said the trained manpower of the jail department will play a positive role towards supplementing the government efforts of transforming the jails into correction centres.
After getting training, the jail wardens will be enriched with the knowledge about how to behave with the prisoners and how they will protect their human rights.
The jail wardens and other officials concerned will start their profession with a positive attitude and stand against all anti-social activities. Besides, the recruits will hold on to their ethics and values and keep up their efforts to ensure human rights.
