KHULNA, March 10, 2024 (BSS) - A K Hiru, former president of Khulna Press Club (KPC), died of kidney failure at Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital (SSANSH) in the city this afternoon.
He was 70, family sources said.
Hiru, also the ex-general secretary of Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) and ex-joint secretary general of undivided BFUJ, had been suffering from kidney diseases in last couple of years.
Childless journalist Hiru left behind his wife, relatives and a host of admires to mourn his death.
He was admitted to ICU of the SSANSH in last month while he suddenly suffered in brain stroke.
Hiru, hailing from village Kheshra under Tala upazila of Satkhira, migrated to Khulna in 1980's decade and started his carrier in different local dailies. He worked at Channel i, Daily Rupali, Daily Muktokonthay and Bangladesher Khabar.
He will be buried at Nirala Graveyard in the city following namaz-e-janaza after Magrib prayers on the premises of Darul Ulum Madrasa.
