RAJSHAHI, March 11, 2024 (BSS)- A trial tribunal here today convicted two male-female youths and sentenced them to life imprisonment in the sensational Sony murder case.
 
The convicts are Moin alias Annaf, 20, son of Muhammad Mamun, and his friend Habiba Kumkum alias Oishi, 19, of Hetemkha Sahajipara area in the metropolis.

Muhammad Mohiduzzaman, Judge of Speedy Trial Tribunal, found the convicts guilty of the murder charge and handed down the verdict in presence of the convicts.

Two other accused of the case were acquitted as the killing charge brought against them couldn't be proved beyond doubt.

According to the prosecution story, in brief, the accused kidnapped Sony, 18, son of Rafiqul Islam, from the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital area and took him to their area and killed him brutally on July 3, 2022.

Father of the victim had lodged a case with Boalia Police station on the same day. Upon completion of investigation, police pressed charges accusing four persons, including Annaf and Kumkum.
