KHULNA, March 12, 2024 (BSS) - A preparatory meeting on the celebration of upcoming 54th Independence Day was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Khulna on Monday.

 
Khulna District administration has taken elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.

The celebration of the Independence Day will begin with heralding of a 31-gun salute at dawn on the Khulna Metropolitan Police Line premises.
 
Marking the day, national flags will be hoisted atop all public and private buildings at dawn and tributes will be paid at the Gallyamary monument, a memorial built in the memories of the Liberation War Heroes, after sunrise of the Independence Day.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Helal Sharif will take salute at the parade ground of the district stadium around 8am on the day.
 
The district administration will accord a reception to the Freedom Fighters in the afternoon on the day at Khulna Shilpakala Academy. Marking the day, prize distribution ceremony on essay writing and drawing competition among the children from different educational institutes will be held there.

Special prayers will be offered at different mosques, temples, churches and other religious institutions seeking divine blessings for the peace and progress of the country.

With DC of Khulna Khandaker Yasir Arefin in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Hafizur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulak Kumar Mondol, Additional District Magistrate Md. Nazmul Hossain Khan, Assistant Police Commissioner Md. Abu Naser Al-Amin, freedom fighters Professor Alamgir Kabir and Mahbubur Rahman.
