CHATTOGRAM, March 17, 2024 (BSS) - The 104th birth anniversary of Father of
the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2024
was celebrated here today in a befitting manner.
Chattogram District Administration along with Chattogram City Corporation
(CCC), different government and semi-government institutions, different
political parties and socio-cultural organisations arranged colourful
programmes to mark the day.
The programmes included children's rallies, placing of wreaths at the
portrait of Bangabandhu, cultural functions, discussions, essay and drawing
competitions and poetry recitation.
On the occasion, Chattogram District Administration organised day-long
programmes at District Shilpakala Academy and Shishu Academy.
Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Abul Basar Mohammad Fakuruzzaman and
leaders of different cultural organisations placed wreaths at the portrait of
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Shilpakala
Academy.
Later, a rally was bought out from District Shilpakala Academy that ended at
the same venue after parading different streets. A large number of people,
including schoolboys and girls joined it.
A discussion on the life and works of Bangabandhu and the children gathering
was held at the Shilpakala Academy this afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Abul Basar Mohammad Fakuruzzaman presided
over the function while Divisional Commissioner Tofail Islam addressed it as
the chief guest.
DIG Nur-e-Alam Mina, CMP Commissioner Krisnopada Roy, Superintendent of
District Police SM Sofiullah, Muktijuddah Commander Mozaffar Ahmed, among
others, addressed the function.
City Mayor AJM Reazaul Karim Chowdhury placed a wreath at the portrait of
Bangabandhu in front of the CCC this morning.
District Shishu Academy organised drawing competitions, poetry recitations
and cultural functions for children throughout the day.
Chattogram City Corporation organised various colourful programmes, including
placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, discussion meetings to
celebrate the 104th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu in the city's CCC
auditorium near Tiger pass area.
Chattogram city unit of Awami League (AL) organised a children and adolescent
rally in the city's Darulfazal Market area.
A large number of children from different parts of the city wearing colourful
dresses also joined a discussion at city's theater institute hall this
afternoon.
Earlier, Chattogram city AL paid tributes to the Architect of the Nation by
placing wreaths at his portrait at the city's Darul Fazal Market party
office.
Chattogram North and South District units of AL also arranged separate
children rallies, Khatma Quran and discussion meetings on the occasion.
Apart from it, separate discussion meetings were also held at all the
educational institutions in the city and district under the auspices of
respective authorities.
Marking the day, Bangladesh Chhatra League units in all educational
institutions in the city, including Chattogram University, Chattogram Medical
College, Chattogram University of Engineering Technology (CUET), University
of Science and Technology in Chattogram and Chattogram Veterinary and Animal
Sciences University also held discussions on the life and works of
Bangabandhu.
Chattogram Press Club and Chattogram Union of Journalists also celebrated the
day through various programmes.
