CHAPAINAWABGANJ, March 19, 2024 (BSS) - District police today arrested three accused persons in connection with kidnapping a businessman from different districts.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Chapainawabganj Sadar Circle Md Jahangir Alam disclosed this at a press briefing today.

The arrestees were Md Mozaffar Hossain, 25, of Gopinathpur Pashchimpara under Durgapur upazila in Rajshahi district, Md. Motaleb Khandaker, 42, of Bhabanipur Modhyopara under Sujanagar upazila in Pabna district and Md. Altaf Hossain, 56, of Kanda village under Puthia upazila in Rajshahi district.

The ASP said the aforesaid persons took Md. Sadiqul Islam from Biswaroad intersection in Chapainawabganj town by a microbus on March 22, 2023 at around 2 pm telling to help him reach Rajshahi by the microbus.

Later, they snatched from him Taka 6,00,000 which he got by selling cattle and his mobile phone.
 
Again making him hostage, they realised Taka 4,00,000 more as ransom through SA Paribahan Baneswar Branch and released him at Baneswar in Rajshahi on March 23, 2023 at 6 am.

At this, Md. Sadiqul Islam filed a case with Chapainawabganj Sadar Model thana on April 26, 2023, ASP Jahangir Alam added.
