CHATTOGRAM, March 25, 2024 (BSS) - Chattogram district administration has completed all sorts of preparations to celebrate the Independence and National Day-2024 in a befitting manner in the city and district on March 26.
This year the celebration of Independence and National Day-2024 bears a special significance with the celebration of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Chattogram district administration has taken a two-day long programme including rally, road show, discussion meeting, quiz competition and screening of the country’s development.
Besides, the district administration will also observe the auspicious day through various colourful programmes.
Officials in the district administrations informed that the day’s programmes will begin through heralding 31-gun salutes on the premises of the circuit house in the early hours of March 26.
Floral wreaths will be placed at Central Shahid Minar in the city after sunrise.
Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation M Reazaul Karim Chowdhury, Divisional Commissioner Tofail Islam, Deputy Inspector General for Chattogram Range Nur-e-Alam Mina, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Krisnopada Roy and Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Abul Basar Mohammad Fakruzzaman will first place wreaths at Shahid Minar.
Later, leaders of Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and other political parties, freedom fighters, heads of government departments and educational institutions, business bodies, civil society members, professionals and commoners will place wreaths one by one.
The National Flag will be hoisted by different individuals and public organizations in limited scale atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, educational institutions and other establishments after sunrise in the city and district to mark the Independence Day-2024.
Divisional Commissioner Tofail Islam along with high officials of Chattogram district and divisional commissioner offices will hoist the national flag amid rendering of the National Anthem at Chattogram circuit houses at 8 am on the day.
Tofail Islam along with other high officials will also take salute from the march past programme of MA Aziz stadium.
Drawing competitions for children on the War of Liberation, screening of documentary films of the War of Liberation and cultural functions will be organised at Gymnasium field beside Chattogram MA Aziz stadium on March 26.
The main streets and roadside islands will be decorated with the national flag, posters and miniatures and the government, semi-government and private buildings will be illuminated in the city.
Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, pagodas, churches and other places of worship seeking eternal peace for departed souls of martyred freedom fighters and continuous peace, progress and development of the nation. Improved diets will be served to the inmates of all hospitals in Chattogram, jail in Chattogram, vagabond centers, Shishu Paribar and orphanages.
Bangladesh Betar in Chattogram will air special programmes and local dailies will publish special supplements glorifying the importance and dignity of the Golden Jubilee of Independence of the country.
The district administration will arrange the main discussion and Ifter party at the local circuit house auditorium.
It will be followed by a prize distribution ceremony and cultural function at the Gymnasium field premises on March 27.
Chattogram city and district units of AL and its associate bodies, Chattogram City Corporation, different educational institutions including Chattogram University will celebrate the day in a befitting manner.
