JAMALPUR, March 26, 2024 (BSS) - The 54th Independence and National Day was 
observed here in a befitting manner today.

Marking the day, district administration, Freedom Fighters, political 
parties, educational institutes and various cultural and social organisations 
chalked out special programmes.

People from all walks of life paid homage to the martyrs by placing floral 
wreaths at the Memorial in the town after dawn.

Local Lawmaker Md Abul Kalam Azad flanked by Deputy Commissioner Md Shafiur 
Rahman, Zila Parishad Chairman Advocate Mohammad Baki Billah, Superintendent 
of Police Md Kamruzzaman placed a floral wreath at the memorial in the early 
morning.

It was followed by Police Administration, Zila Parishad, freedom fighters, 
District and Sessions Judge, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Sheikh 
Hasina Medical College, Political parties, Jamalpur Municipality, Civil 
Surgeon Office, Agriculture Department, Jamalpur Press Club, different 
educational institutes, various workers associations and social and cultural 
organisations.

Besides, District Awami League and its front organisations, paid homage by 
placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu 
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at its party office in Bakultola area of the town to 
mark the 54th Independence and National Day. 

President and General Secretary of the district AL Advocate Mohammad Baki 
Billah and Bizan Kumar Chanda led the programme respectively.

A discussion meeting was also held at the party office with District AL Vice-
president Syed Atiqur Rahman Sana in the chair.

Marking the day,  a reception to the freedom fighters, discussion meeting, easy 
competition and Doa Miahfil were also arranged.
