BHOLA, March 26, 2024 (BSS) - The 54th Independence and National Day was observed in the district today as elsewhere in the country in a befitting manner.
 
Marking the day, district administration, Freedom Fighters, political parties, educational institutes, and various cultural and social organizations chalked out special programmes.
 
The celebrations began with heralding 31-gun salutes with the sunrise.
 
Floral wreaths were placed at Shaheed Muktijuddha Smritistambha at the deputy commissioner's office and slaughter house in Jugirghol area in the district town this morning paying rich tribute to the war heroes.
 
District administration, police administration, judicial department, district Awami League, health department, social organizations, political and cultural organizations and people from all walks of life paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War.
 
The national flag was hoisted atop all government, semi-government, private and public buildings, educational institutions and other establishments.
 
The district administration hoisted the national flag amid rendering of the National Anthem at Bhola Government High School ground in the morning.
 
Special prayers were offered at mosques, temples, pagodas, churches and other places of worship seeking eternal peace for departed souls of martyred freedom fighters and continuous peace, progress and development of the nation.
 
Improved diets were served to the inmates of all hospitals, jails, rehabilitation centers of street children, welfare centers for disabled people, vagabond centers and child day care centers.
