Eid shopping gains momentum in Khulna

KHULNA, March 27, 2024 (BSS) - With two weeks left to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, people of the city have started to throng shopping in all the markets of the metropolitan city.
 
The buyers are starting to crowd in the city markets here to buy new clothes, shoes, cosmetics and other items for their families in a festive mood.
 
All the city markets are busy selling their Eid items as customers rush to different shopping centres, which begin in the morning and continue till night.
 
While visiting various city shopping markets on Wednesday, this reporter witnessed that different markets including the Nixon Market, Khwaza Khanjahan Ali Market, Clay Road Market, Boro Bazar, Sonadanga Shopping Centre, and KDA New Market were crowded with buyers.
 
Talking to the BSS, most of the salesmen said that the sales have started to reach their peak after 13 Ramadan compared to the last two years. Shoppers said that the prices of all clothes increased by 10 to 15 percent compared to last year.
 
"This year the sales after 13th Ramadan have increased up to Taka two lakh from Taka 30,000-35,000 per day," said Abul Hasan, owner of Bismillah Enterprise of the Khulna Shopping Complex.
 
This year's new collection of three pieces namely 'Farshi Gharara' is the top choice of teenage girls. 'Nayara Cut', a redesigned style dress of 'Nayra' which was the top choice of young ladies last year, is also asked this year, he said.
 
Indian Shimar Silk, (Vipul Collection) Alia, Afiyah, Gulnar, popular Indian three pieces are prime demands of young women. These dresses are selling from Taka 4,500 to 5,800. Delhi boutique is also a prime demand of the elite class of young ladies, selling at Taka 6,000 to Taka 10,000. 
 
Agha Noor, Zohra, Crop Top Lehenga, and Pakistani Original Sadabahar have also got the demand of young girls and women. These are being sold at Taka 4,000 to Taka 6,500.
 
Besides, many young ladies buy Bangladeshi boutiques three pieces and the collection of Z.S. textile as those are qualities and at the same time the price is from Taka 2000 to Taka 3100. 
 
Most of the women customers are purchasing Eid special Chennai silk saree and Gadwal Saree of Banglore of Taka 8,000 to 16,000. Organza hand-stretched saree and Khaddi silk saree are also being sold at Taka 6,000 to Taka 12,000.
 
The same brand sarees of 'B' category are being sold at Taka 2,500 to 4,000, said Amolesh Mallik, owner of city's Adritya Bostraloy of Jalil Tower Shopping Mall.
 
Besides, Bangladeshi Jamdani specially silk Jamdani is being sold at Taka 6,000 to 15,000. Bangladeshi Boutiques are very popular as those are being sold at Taka 1,200 to Taka 4,000, Original Tater and Batik Sarees are being sold at Taka 1,500 to 2,500 but very popular here in Khulna, he added. 
 
'Sequence Panjabi' style is the top choice of teenage and middle-aged men. Top Ten, Star, Bismillah Eid Collection Panjabi are the most common brands. The price range is Taka 1000 to Take 3000, said the owner of Panjabi Ghor, Railway Market in the city.
 
Slim fit jeans including Lee, DOF, DAPIC & TOMMY Jeans from Taka 950 to 4,200 are the best choice of young men in the city, said Md. Yasin Molla, owner of U Look of the same shopping mall.
 
Replying to a question, Md. Sher Ali Mollah, owner of Shathi Garments at Friends' Arched Market told BSS, that parents are buying both Bangladeshi and Indian T-shirts and Jeans for their kids. There is no impact on sales for the 'India Boycott'.
