GAIBANDHA, March 28, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 35 patients affected with 5
chronic diseases got financial grant from the government through department
of social services to continue their treatment expenditure.
In this regard, a function was held at the auditorium of Sadar upazila
Parishad of the town here on Wednesday.
Local lawmaker Shah Sarwar Kabir, MP, addressed the function and distributed
the cheques of grant to the selected patients as the chief guest.
Presided over by UNO Mahmud Al- Hasan, the function was also addressed, among
others, by upazila social services officer Nasir Uddin Shah and disability
affairs officer Akter Hossain.
Speaking on the occasion, Local lawmaker in his speeches said the government
led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is much cordial to mitigate the
sufferings of the patients through providing them with financial grant.
In the function, a total of 35 patients received of Taka 17. 50 lakh as grant
and thanked the government for providing them with treatment cost against the
chronic diseases like cancer, kidney damage, liver cirrhosis, thalassemia,
paralysis caused by stroke.
Later, 46 bundles of corrugated iron (CI) sheets and financial assistance
were also distributed to the fire and erosion victims of the upazila at the
initiative of upazila administration and relief and disaster management
division.
