KHULNA, April 2, 2024 (BSS) - The government will distribute 1,461.38 metric tonnes of rice among 1, 46,138 distressed families in the district including two Paurashavas ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Abdul Karim today said the administration will distribute the VGF rice among 1, 46,138 marginal poor families before Eid-ul-Fitr in nine upazilas and two Pourasabhas of the district.
Under the Vulnerable Group Feeding Programme (VGF), the rice has been allotted for 1, 38,436 VGF card holders of 68 unions in the district and 7,702 card holders of Paikgachha and Chalna Paurashava, he added.
Of the total, 130.78 metric tonnes of rice will be distributed among 13,078 VGF card beneficiaries in Batiaghata upazila, 105.37 metric tonnes among 10,537 beneficiaries in Dacope, 261.36 metric tonnes among 26,136 beneficiaries in Dumuria, 131.67 metric tonnes among 13,167 beneficiaries in Dighalia, 179.51 metric tonnes among 17,951 beneficiaries in Koyra, 215.89 metric tonnes among 21,589 beneficiaries in Paikgacha, 118.75 metric tonnes among 11,875 beneficiaries in Phultala, 140.36 metric tonnes among 14,036 beneficiaries in Rupsa and 100.67 metric tonnes of rice will be distributed among 10,067 beneficiaries in Terokhada upazila, an official said.
Apart from this, 4,621 beneficiaries of Paikgachha Paurashava and 3,081 beneficiaries of Chalna Paurashava will get 46.21 metric tonnes and 30.81 metric tonnes of rice respectively, said the official.
Each person will get 10 kilograms (KGs) of rice under the programme.
