Eid-shoppers make Khulna markets vibrant

KHULNA, April 4, 2024 (BSS) - On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, people are thronging markets in the city.

 Shopping malls, markets and makeshift shops of new clothes, shoes, cosmetics and other items are vibrating with the crowd of Eid shoppers.

 In a festive mood, all city markets are turning busy to make brisk sales of Eid items. The trading continues from morning to night.

 A visit to the city's Khulna Shopping Complex, Dakbangla Super Market, Nixon Market, Khwaza Khanjahan Ali Market, Clay Road, Boro Bazar, Sonadanga Shopping Centre, and KDA New Market found growing numbers of customers.
 
'Farshi Gharara' is the top choice for teenage girls this year. Alia, Afiyah, and Gulnar, popular Indian three pieces and Agha Noor, Mayabi Pakistani three piece are prime demands of young women. These dresses are selling from Taka 5000 to 6000. Delhi boutique is also a prime demand of the elite class of young ladies, selling at Taka 6,000 to Taka 10,000, said Hasanuzzaman Dalim, owner of Pabna Store, Khulna.

 Indian silk saree is the best choice for married women. Besides, the Shalwar Kameez set, young ladies are also purchasing cotton printed saree as Eid-ul-Fitr and Pahela Boishak will be celebrated respectively, he added. 

 While talking to BSS, Mostafa Kamal Ripon, owner of King Samrat Shoes of the city's Dakbangla Super Market said as a new shop owner of this market, I am very pleased with my shop's sales volume this year.

 Converse, Harpers and sports shoes of Nike, Adidas, and Panda brands are the top choices of young customers. Most of the teenage students buy these categories of shoes as the price is within their purchasing ability, he added. 

 While talking to BSS, Md. Sher Ali Mollah, owner of Shathi Garments at Friends' Arched Market said, the sales have started to reach a highest peak after 20 Ramadan, which is higher compared to that of the last two years.

 Replying to a question, he said, that parents are buying both Bangladeshi and Indian T-shirts and Jeans for their kids and Indian frog dresses for little girls.
    
Young boys are buying both Bangladeshi and Indian Jeans. Those jeans are selling at a cost of Taka 700 to Taka 1000. They also prefer export quality slim fit Bangladeshi brands which are selling at a cost of Taka 900 to Taka 1200. 

 Talking to BSS, Harun Hossain, manager of INFINITY Clothing Store in the city's Shibbari area, said they opened their outlet in Khulna around two years ago. Their sales volume sounds better than last year.

 The price of foreign brands is higher. This year, their own brands Richman and Oxygen jeans have become popular in Khulna and the price is comparatively cheaper than foreign brands. In the last few days of Ramadan, on average, they sell clothes worth about Taka 7 lakh to 8 lakh a day, he added.

 Md. Yasin Molla, owner of U Look of the Jalil Tower Shopping mall, said slim fit jeans including Lee, DOF, DAPIC & TOMMY Jeans from Taka 1000 to 4,000 are the best choice for young men in the city. 

Many makeshift shops have sprung up on pavements targeting the Eid-ul-Fitr.
