GAZIPUR, April 4, 2024 (BSS) - A worker of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) was killed after being hit by a covered van on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Jagrata Chowrangi area under Joydebpur upazila of the district last night.

The deceased was identified as Lablu Mia, 28, son of Dula Mia, a resident of Shibdeulpara area under Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur district.

The accident occurred in the area when a Dhaka-bound covered van hit Lablu while he was working of a BRT project at midnight, leaving him dead on the spot, said Abu Siddique, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bason Police Station.

Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital morgue, he said.

Police seized the covered van and arrested its driver.

A case was also filed in this connection, the OC added.
