CHATTOGRAM, April 13, 2024 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive life-term convict in a gang rape case from Nazirhat area under Hathazari upazila of the district after nine years last night.

 
A team of RAB-7 arrested Suman, 33, son of Md Siddique, a resident of Harishpur area under Sindwip upazila of the district, on Friday night from Nazirhat area under Hathazari upazila of the district.
 
Senior assistant director of RAB-7, Nurul Abser said accused Suman along with his some accomplices forcibly raped a girl on May 12 in 2015.
 
Victim’s brother filed a case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court against four persons including Suman as the main accused.  
 
Later a Chattogram court sentenced Sumon to life-term imprisonment on September 18, 2023 and fined him Taka 20 thousand, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
 
He was handed over to the respective police station for further legal action.
