MEHERPUR, April 14, 2024 (BSS) – Pahela Boishak, the first day of Bengali New Year was celebrated in Gangni upazila of the district with much enthusiasm as elsewhere in the country today.

To mark the day, a colorful rally was brought out from the Upazila Parishad premises that paraded main road in the town this morning.

Abu Saleh Mohammad Nazmul Huq, MP, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Pritam Saha, Upazila Parishad Chairman M A Khalek, Municipality Mayor Ahmed Ali and Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Thana Tajul Islam took part in it among others.

Later, a cultural function was organized on the Upazila Parishad premises. One Irin Akhi moderated the function where Boishaki and folk songs were rendered.

A few stalls were also set up there for celebration of Pahela Boishak.
