CHATTOGRAM, April 16, 2024 (BSS) - A court  here today awarded life term imprisonment to a youth for raping a girl alluring to marry her in city’s Biyazid Bostami area in 2018.

The judge of Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-4, Jakir Hossain, pronounced the verdict convicting Alamgir, 31, hailed from Biyazid area in the city.

The court also fined him Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer four months more imprisonment.

The prosecution story, in brief, Alamgir raped the girl alluring to marry her in several times in different area under Biyazid thana on August 18, 2018.

Later Alamgir refused  to marry her and the girl lodged complaint with the tribunal.

After examining five prosecution witnesses, the court today delivered  the verdict in presence of the convict, court sources said.
