NILPHAMARI, April 17, 2024 (BSS) - The historic Mujibnagar Day was observed in the district today in a befitting manner marking the oath-taking of country's first government on April 17 in 1971.
 
The day's programme included hoisting national flag, discussion and placing wreaths on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
 
On the occasion, a discussion meeting on 'The historic Mujibnagar Day and Bangladesh Independence' was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner office this morning with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pankaj Ghosh in the chair.
 
Superintendent of Police Golam Sabur, civil surgeon Dr. Hasibur Rahman, Nilphamari Municipality Mayor Dewan Kamal Ahmed and freedom fighters, among others, were present.
 
Besides, on the occasion of the day, district Awami League and allied organizations placed wreaths on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under the leadership of District Awami League President Dewan Kamal Ahmed this morning.
 
District Awami League Vice-President Ahsan Rahim Manzil, District Mohila Awami League General Secretary Farida Khanam, Sadar Upazila Awami League President Abuzar Rahman, District Swechasebak League General Secretary Russell Amin Swapan, District Chhatra League President Monirul Hasan Appel its General Secretary Masud Sarkar, among others, were present.
