HABIGANJ, April 18, 2024 (BSS) - The driver and helper of a pickup van were killed as their vehicle was hit by a passenger bus on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Model Bazar area under Nabiganj upazila of the district last night (Wednesday).
 
The deceased driver of the pickup van were identified as Sadiq Mia, 35, son of late Warish Mia, resident of Malangpur village under Nabiganj upazila and helper of the pickup van Hasan Mia, 23, son of Kana Mia, resident of the same area.
 
The accident occurred in the area when the pickup van was going to Sylhet from Dhaka. On the way, they parked the pickup van on the side of the highway and they were fixing the fault of the pickup van. At that time, a Sylhet-bound passenger bus of Al Mubaraka transport hit them around 9pm last night, leaving the driver dead on the spot and the helper injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nabiganj Police Station Masuk Ali said.
 
The injured was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead, OC said.
