NARAIL, April 23, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced two persons to life-term imprisonment in a drug case in Sadar upazila here in 2012.
 
Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 Judge Mohammad Saiful Alam pronounced the verdict this afternoon in absence of the accused.
 
The life-term convicts are -Saddam Dalal, 33, son of Momin Dalal, and Rana Hossain, 29, son of Yasin Dalal, residents of Hajipur village in Satkhira Sadar upazila.
 
According to the prosecution, on May 9, 2012 around 10:30am, police recovered 40 bottles of Phensidyl from the bag of Saddam and 30 bottles of Phensidyl from the bag of Rana during a drive in United College area of the upazila and arrested them.
 
A case was registered under the Narcotics Control Act with Sadar Police Station in this regard.
 
Later, police filed a charge-sheet in the court accusing them.
 
After examining the witnesses and other relevant evidence, the court handed down the punishment today.
