GAIBANDHA, April 24, 2024 (BSS)- Speakers in a function here underscored the
need for controlling sound pollution anyhow to build a noise-free healthy
environment for all.

"Like air and water pollution, noise pollution is a serious hazard to the
environment. It can affect the brains of animals and newborn babies, which
can have adverse effects on their lives for a long time period. It can affect
someone's heart, blood pressure, brain, ears, etc. Therefore, we must be
careful and save lives for our health," they also said.

They made the observations while addressing a post-rally discussion on
international sound awareness day-2024 at the conference room of the Deputy
Commissioner (DC) here this noon.

Marking the day, the Department of Environment (DoE), Rangpur divisional
office arranged the function in cooperation with district administration.

Additional district magistrate (ADM) Md. Mashiur Rahman addressed the
function as the chief guest while Additional Superintendent of Police (SP)
Abdullah AL-Mamun spoke at the event as special guest.

Md. Hasan-E-Mubarak, senior chemist of the DoE, moderated the ceremony.

A number of invited persons including leaders of motor and truck sramik
unions of the district spoke the meeting, among others.

The speakers emphasized the need for creating social awareness among all
sections of people to keep the noise pollution caused by motor vehicles, loud
music, brick breaking machines, mixture machines environment friendly.

ADM Mashiur Rahman urged all the stakeholders of the society to come forward
with a positive attitude and play a responsible role to build a noise-free
environment for the next generation.
