BHOLA, April 29, 2024 (BSS) - A total of 7,725 small and marginal farmers in Lalmohan upazila of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of Ufshi Aush and jute in the current Kharif-1 season.
To increase the interest of farmers in Ufshi Aush and jute cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Abu Hasnain said.
Member of Parliament for Bhola-3 constituency Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the seeds and fertilizers to some farmers as the chief guest, held at Lalmohan Upazila Parishad Auditorium this morning with Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) Md Touhidul Islam in the chair.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ehsanul Haque Shipon, Upazila Awami League General Secretary Fakhrul Alam Howladar, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Abu Hasnain, among others, were present.
Upazila agriculture officials said that 7,700 Aush farmers will get each five kgs of Ufshi Aush seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aush on one bigha of land.
Besides, a total of 25 jute farmers have been given each one kg of seeds to increase jute production today.
Rest of the seeds and fertilizers will be distributed very soon under the concerned upazila agriculture office, upazila agriculture Officer Md. Abu Hasnain said.
