KHULNA, June 8, 2024 (BSS) - With a view to observe the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha,
the second largest religious festival of the Muslims Ummah, in a gaiety and
smooth manner, a preparatory meeting was held on Thursday at the conference
room of Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Khulna.
With Deputy Commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin in the chair, the meeting was
attended, among others, by officials of the district administration, elite,
freedom fighters, journalists and Imams of various mosques.
The Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on June 17.
At the meeting, it was decided that the main jamaat of Eid-ul-Azha will be
held at Khulna Circuit House ground at 8am on the Eid day if the weather is
favourable.
In case of inclement weather or any other unavoidable reason, the main
congregation of Eid will be held at 8am at the Town Jame Mosque while the
second jamaat will be held at 9am and the last jamaat will be held at 10am.
The national flag will be hoisted at dawn at all government, semi-government
and autonomous bodies while colourful banners decorated with "Eid Mubarak' in
Bangla and Arabic will be installed at roads and islands marking the Eid day.
It was decided that the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Khulna Metropolitan
Police (KMP) will take all necessary measures for properly and befittingly
prepare the prayers' places.
The law enforcement agencies will also ensure law and order in all respect
during the Eid period which was decided at the meeting and Power Development
Board (PDB) was requested to ensure uninterrupted electricity in all the
areas under its coverage.
The meeting also decided that cattle markets for sacrificial animals trading
would not be set up without permission of local administration.
Adequate law enforcement agencies will be deployed at all cattle markets on
the highways. Necessary machines will be set up for checking fake notes at
all cattle markets.
