CHATTOGRAM, June 17, 2024 (BSS) - The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated on Monday in the Port city as elsewhere in the district with due solemnity and religious fervor.
Muslim devotees offered Eid prayers in mosques in the port city and across the district.
A total of 264 Eid congregations including Jamiatul Falah Mosque ( two successively eid jammats at the same venue with half an hour interval) were held in the port city under the auspices of Chattogram Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and Chattogram City Corporation ( CCC) respectively.
A large number of devotees participated in the Eid prayers and prayed for divine blessings for the peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
Chattogram metropolitan and district police sources said Eid-ul-Azha Jamaats in the city and district were held peacefully.
The authorities took adequate security measures by deploying sufficient law enforcers at various strategic points in the city and district.
Of the biggest three Eid congregations, one was held at Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque at 7 am organized by CCEJC and two others were held successively at Jamiatul Falah Mosque at 7 am and 8 am under the auspices of CCC.
Other major Eid Congregation were held at Laldhighi Maidan, Chawkbazar Wali Khan Mosque, Masjeed-e-Baitus Sharf at Kadamtali , Pologround Railway Public high school Maidan, Shah Amanat Shah (Rh)Dargah Maidan, Metropolitan Police line Maidan, Agrabad Jamboree field, Baizeed Bostami (Rh) Dargah Mosque, in between 7 am to 8 am.
Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, former City Mayor A Z M Nasir Uddin, Divisional Commissioner Tofil Islam, Jatiya Party presidium member President Solyman Alam Shet, among others, attended the Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Jamiatulfalah Mosque.
