NETRAKONA, June 18, 2024 (BSS) - The holy Eid-ul- Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated here yesterday amid due religious fervor and festivity.
 
The main Eid congregation was held at 8am at Netrakona central Jam-e-mosque in Muktarpara area here.
 
Former state minister for social welfare and valiant Freedom Fighter Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, MP, deputy commissioner Netrakona Shahed Parvez, police super Netrakona Foyaz Ahmed, mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, district-level officers, public representatives, political leaders, freedom fighters and people from all walks of life attended the Eid congregation.
 
Imam of Netrakona Central Jam-e-mosque Moulana Mustafa Kamal conducted the main Eid prayers while special munajat were offered seeking divine blessings of Almighty Allah for peace, progress and prosperity of the nation and the Muslim Ummah.
 
The other big Eid congregations were held at 8am at Netrakona Alia madrasha mosque, Netrakona Miftaulum madrasha mosque, Borobazer Jam-e-mosque, Chalkbazer Jam-e-mosque and Malni primary school premises in the district town respectively.

Later, the devotees sacrificed thousands of sacrificial animals at their houses and other selected spots of Netrakona municipality.
 
Marking the Eid day, improved diets were served to the inmates of jails, hospitals and orphanage children family centers across the district.
 
The main roadside islands of the town were decorated with different festoons inscribed with ‘Eid Mubarak’.
 
Netrakona district administration and the district police took full-proof security measures for peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Azha.
